Those phone people, let me tell you. Suddenly I have roaming charges. I call, I complain. I purchase a different phone plan. Now I can chat to all of the beautiful people in this world I want to for only $15 more a month. Plus the roaming fees where knocked in half, thank gouda.
Things I learned:
1. The puffy, greasy look is “IN”
apparently it’s supposed to be dewy & youthful; i think it’s just gross
2. No Doink Doink after 9pm on Thursday
i didn’t get my fix yesterdy; my ethical questions have no been addressed for the day
3. One of my classes, one that I really wanted to take has been cancelled
4. Mean Girls is really funny
Okay. Question. What teenage movie best describes your high school? Not you, but the high school you attended. Mine is Varsity Blues. Replace football with girl’s basketball and that is my high school. I swear.

May 27, 2004 at 2:21 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentDo you ever go to your blog disappointed that it hasn’t been updated? Then remember that you have to do that, and meh who wants to go through that effort? Only every second day does this happen really.
I’m so excited to see Nordie back. I don’t actually know this person, but I imagine him to be a cross between John Cusack and Indiana Jones with kids. Yes I mean Indiana Jones and not Harrison Ford. I mean Harrison Ford has obviously gone a little funny, making movies with kids to help the career? What?
Have I told you of my newest illness? I am addicted to Law & Order. It doesn’t matter if it’s orginal style, SVU, or CI. I don’t care. I’m watching 4 hours a night, all different episodes. Why? Because I can. Screw HBO, TLC, and Comedy Central. I want my doink doink.

Today I learned that I’m in bery bery bad shape. I tried to run. It didn’t go so good. Now when I say run, I mean jog….slowly. I did actually make it all the way around the track once, and that’s about it. Ultra-Fitness Matt told me that Dog Days this year is going to be 1.5 hours long. That would hurt. I’m kind of glad that I’m not in Kansas this summer. However, exercising here isn’t all that great, because where are 500 other sweaty people making me feel no-so-lame? Kansas that’s where. Doh.
On the bright side I have a cold. Wait a second that isn’t the bright side. Crap. That’s the…what side is that?
I got a hair cut. Just 1.5 inches too short. It’s cute, but won’t stay behind the ears. I mean, that’s what ears are for right? Holding of hair. And now mine are working as well as they could, due to hair length. Quickly must grow hair 1.5 inches. Crap…it didn’t work.
And don’t nobody forget the first annual SILS backyard Memorial cookout is this Saturday very close to my actual apartment. Seeing how it’s outside my actual apartment. Come one, come all and behold my brat-making mad skills.

May 25, 2004 at 10:53 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentWeird…it’s like North Carolina is home
Or maybe it’s just cause Toby is here
Coming back to NC was great. I slept all day, awoke refreshed and went to work. Nothing has changed, nothing is different. Just how home should be. I say this because growing up in the uber small town of Baldwin, nothing changed…..ever. It’s true. The town stayed the same size more or less for the entire 18 years that I lived there. Two new restuarants in 18 years. That’s it. Within a year of me moving away a Pizza Hut, Sonic, and KFC opened. Now they’ve even built a second elementary school. One just isn’t good enough anymore I guess. So coming back to Chapel Hill, where nothing changed is definately like coming home. It can change all it wants to after I’m gone, but for the next 7 months, it’s nothing but the status quo.

Or how I failed the drive test and just have a permit now
On the bright side, I don’t really care. At least I have something psuedo-legal and I’m sure that I’ll pass it next time. I think.
My friends are all married now. It’s cool. I was there, sparkley hair and all. Holding flowers and hearding flower girls. More on that later. Because now it is time to time about Jett.
Ah Jett. The would-be love of my life. If I had a life. As it is, I’m perfectly happy to spend one night a year in an Irish pub with him talking tattoos, midgets, and sex. Although I don’t think midgets came up this year. Oh well. Last night, pre-wedding was a classic really. Met him at a cigar/martini bar, Paul Chang would have loved it, it came complete with blues band that wasn’t too bad either. We promptly left for a quieter local, one with more Irish punkers really. We found it quickly. 2 for 1 Killens kept him going while I was hitting the Capt. I really do like Capt. The talk went late and then the excitement of going home was upon us.
Question: if you live in a city shouldn’t you know where most of the major roads are? Pawnee and George Washington Blvd isn’t that obscure. Don’t worry I did make it back, considerably before the maid of honor I might add. Overall it was a classic meeting. Well done I say. Well done.

Ba ba ba ba baa
Today circa 5:45pm I will be heading to Wichita. Away from this Opera forever more. I’m actually not going to work the straw, but instead be the bridesmaid.
Excitement from yesterday.
1. I talked to Owen about Cholmondeley and His Nerdy Mum briefly, but was unable to meet with him in person. Maybe today, or else I’ll have to look for someone else to do it. Drat.
2. Went shopping downtown. Bought a bunch of stuff that I probably don’t need, but wanted anyway. Including an Irn-Bru when I got thirsty.
3. Had dinner at Uno’s. My craving for pizza has been satisfied. Umm…Uno’s greasy pizza.
4. Went to the Red Lyon. It was good. Had a Boddington’s and a Bass. Got tired and went home.
5. Had lunch at Vermont Street BBQ on Mass. Oh that was good. Oh yes good. If you are ever in town (Lawrence) you should eat there. The service is kinda slow, as in we estimated our bill and left, but this was lunch time and we had a deadline, but the food is fab. Everything is smoked. Yummers.
Today I will get my license. Oh yes I will.

Went over to Ultra-Fitness Matt’s last night. There was a bit of a BBQ going on. Now before all the North Carolinians start asking, this was a little BBQ consisting of steak, hamburgers, hot dogs, potatoes, and corn. No ribs or pulled pork really. This was a Monday night, let’s eat kind of BBQ. It was good. I got to see all, or most all of the people from undergrad. Heather is progressing through Med School, while Tyler is debating purchasing either a gas-friendly car or a SVU. Ultra-Fitness Matt and Mandi, the newly weds (relatively) just got a puppy. (Oh is it cute. There was talk of making a puppy scrap-book.) Candi is preggers as is Erin. So there was lots of baby talk as well. The guys still game, so there was lots of talk about that. Linda is going to graduate in 7 weeks, and has no plans for what she wants to do after that. Overall life is progressing.
The amazing part of it, for me at least, is that this group gets together on a weekly basis. They cook dinner, chat, scrap-book, and generally share their lives. Sure I joined them on various occassions last summer when I was here, but I thought that maybe it was just a summer thing. NO. I think this is what Trish expected from our group, but it isn’t where we are right now. In fact just seeing your friends once a week for me seems like a lot, since we are all so busy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah (not the band) I have two jobs, and go to school during the regularly scheduled academic year (ie not summer), but that really isn’t that much more than a regular 40 work week plus commute. It’s just that other people’s schedules are not the same as mine; Monday through Friday, 7am to 6pm. And when you have friends without transport, as I was two months ago it makes it really hard to get together for Sunday BBQs or trips to the park, as there is no public transport on Sundays. That and when one of your group members sleeps till 5pm on a regular basis it makes it hard to get together, almost pointless when the total group is only three or four. Unlike the undergrad group which rounds out to about 15 when everyone is in town and including the wives and what-not.
Oh look I’ve gone all thinking on you. Sorry. My point was I thought the get togethers are cool and someday I too will be doing that. With my luck it will be with hummis and brie as opposed to hot dogs and hamburgers. C’est la vie.

Or not.
So did you know that I’m a muppet? I bet you didn’t. When packing for this trip I forgot to bring:
1. my phone.
2. trainers/boots/shoes with toes in general
3. socks, but without shoes that really doesn’t matter
4. library card
5. reason
On the bright side I did take a bump on the way here. I was only an hour later and $200 ticket voucher happier. Plus I had Mojo’s for dinner.
Today I rode an actual bicycle to campus. I had to pedal and everything. The thing is small and scary and doesn’t go very fast at all. Plus there are no rear-view mirrors or turn signals. How do those kids deal with it?
I went and visited my undergrad campus. It was creepy. The campus was the same, yet not the same, like Becky from Roseanne. The Union was completely redone and the library had been reorganized. I tried to do a little research for the masters paper/project thing-a-ma-bob, but alas that didn’t turn out to well. It’s vacation anyway, so screw it. I’ll work on it when I return to NC.
I did wander around the bookstore and picked up a couple of books. This one looked interesting and this one I thought would be fun to share. Oh, I’m a lame librarian. And I miss Toby.

May 12, 2004 at 11:36 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentHoly shit people. I saw a car wrong side up yesterday. Did anyone else see it? It was on Cameron around noon or so. The cops showed up. V exciting.
Also, I now have a key to the office. V exciting as well. Now if I want to I can get up extra early and be at work at 7am. Um or maybe not. Seeing how this morning was painful due to the consumption of Captain Morgon’s Special last night. Oh well. Hey a week till I’m going to Wichita.

In attempts to further injure myself so that Hottie McHothot will buy me flowers I shut my arm in a car door. This is actually fairly difficult to do. The body tries to keep things like this from happening. Only the truly talented can actually shut part of the bicep in the car. And no the door will not latch, especially if you have big beefy biceps like me. Even though I’m now sporting a fantastic bruise Hottie did not tragically purchase said flowers. Perhaps a nice flesh wound will land me those flowers.
