Due to excessive coffee consumption today I did no work. At least none that I was planning to do. Drat. This means that I’ll have to go to campus tomorrow night and do it then. Was pleased to discover a full set of gym clothes in my locker though, minus socks. If there had been socks in there I would have passed on that last espresso drink and gone to SRC instead (yeah right). Okay my bed calls, tragically empty tonight, but calls anyway as the more coffee I have the more tired I get. Odd.

August 29, 2004 at 12:20 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentCockroaches, 409, and Everclear
The cockroach made an appearance Friday night after the baseball game. It took me an hour but I worked up the courage and 409ed it. It screamed. Yeah, I heard it. It fell into my trashcan. I called AJ again to get him to take it out. I was too scared.
I complained to the apartment people about the screaming cockroach, then went and hung out with Flatmate. We ate at Pepper’s and went shopping. I bought things that I couldn’t afford. We went back to Adelaide to chill and escape the heat. I’m sitting in the Poang and Flatmate says, “don’t turn around.” Yeah it was another giant cockroach. Flatmate was kind enough to kill it for me. It took at least four poundings of a shoe (I counted).
I started drinking shortly there after. Mainly because I’m scared of the cockroaches. Jen showed up and we ventured to Raleigh for the Free Fest. It was free, definately part of the draw.
Anyway, I’ve been trying to see Everclear since about 1995 and finally I was able to go and wasn’t completely out of it when they got on stage. I want to thank Art Alexakis for being awesomez tonight, especially crapping on the Republicans, the young kids, the college students, and everyone who in general sucks. It was great. Plus he played everything, with the exception of Fire Maple Song, that I wanted to here, and even This Land is Your Land. And Pink Cadillac was a surprise as well, but excellent nonetheless.
Overall it’s been a good weekend so far. Except for those damn cockroaches. I need a flatmate who will stay here and just kill those for me.

with the z
So last year there were second years and first years. Now the previous first years are second years and the second years are gone, or so it goes. But really the second years from the previous year are still around and the first years are still just first years to me. Which brings me to my point, what to call the new class of students. Well….New Fish I say.
So I’m at Happy Hour at Off Franklin, previously Henderson Street (it’s my second home really) chillin with the first years, new fish, and some second years who are still around. I’m drinking Kronenberg and Stella, which can be dangerous. Then there was an ICB, which meant the evening was taking a turn for the worse.
We went to Hell, where I learned that New Fish G is awesome with the truly trivial. I got suckered into a round of pool, which I was too drunk to be much good. Then a couple of beers later we went upstairs for the singing. And sing we did. At least I think we did. It gets a little fuzzy here.
Anyway the moral of the story is that Happy Hour with New Fish is really Happy Hourz.

Twice today I heard this. Both times from women. Both of them amazed that I ride a motorcycle. Really peoples it isn’t that scarey. I mean it’s not like it’s a cockroach. Once today I was told, that really suits you. I like those comments better.

Listening to KJ and they are interviewing a librarian. Thought all the other librarians out there would get a kick out of it. She’s talking about all the library services and the cool stuff you can find at libraries, like DVDs and the best tattoos to get and where. So my question is when is WXYC going to do something like that and who will let me know?
and does anyone really want to put the ads back on the blog? i mean sure there is a possiblity of money now and the fun of watching ads appear, hey i had Riddick for a good while there, but really. isn’t that like being a high priced hooker who wears ripped fishnets and glitter?

So I woke up a little last today. That happens sometimes. I left a whole thirty minutes later than usual, little did I know that the entire population of Carboro would be on the road. I ended up passing this one guy on the side, which quickly became the shoulder because no one else was going to let me in and really I was running late. No one was in danger at any point in time, it was all perfectly safe and legal (in CA anyway). The guy gets all mad and honks and gives me a dirty look when he pulls aside me to turn into the Med School. Stupid Med School peoples. Anyway…
….school. I felt like I was late so I ran. I didn’t need to. Doh. Then apparently I was just operating on the wrong level. When asked to identify something I was going for content matter or author opposed to you know…poem. Doh.
I had a nice relaxing lunch, sorely needed. then off to the other job. I hopped on my trusty stead, Toby and ventured off into the wild blue yonder. To be immediately cut off when turning from Raliegh Street onto Franklin by a Toyota (black). Listen people when you make a left hand turn you are suppose to turn into the furtherest left hand lane available so that people turning right at the same time (yes this is legal) may do so without fearing for their life.
Then arriving in Durham and preparing to go under 15-501 another Toyota struck–this one was green. The Toyota decided to change lanes, okay. They did not signal, which is, I suppose only sorta wrong, but they changed lanes directly where I was. In the oncoming lane there was a semi, so no swerving that way. Instead I accelerated and got out of there. As I really don’t want to be squished between a Toyota and a semi.
Last night I listened to KJHK as I am sometimes prone to do and heard the beep beep beep of severe weather. Apparently it was pretty severe and it made me be glad that it wasn’t raining here, but also a little sad since the Hurricane decided not to be cool around here. Oh well.

It was no Harold and Kumar, but really what can be? I mean NPH can’t do it all. However Spud was in it and lasted a little over an hour, more than I can say for the chick with the “I might not be a lesbian, but I have short spunky hair nonetheless.” Anywho, AVP was indeed awesome.
Upon returning to Adelaide this evening I realized that something must be done and quickly. Adelaide smells like a boy. Since I cooked brats tonight by boiling them in beer the entire place smells like beer. Of course this is laid over the cigerette smoke from Friday, the ammonia from Saturday, and the actual smell of boy from earlier. So I must go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond or where ever girls go to get girl smelly stuff, purchase some spray and go to town. Just because I live the rock-n-roll life doesn’t mean that I have to live in someplace that always smells like it. Or something like that.

So I got my mail from the ‘rents today. Three large manila envelopes full-three months of ALA crap, but included was my Red Rider mag. Inside the lastest edition was the 2005 models. Mmmmm 2005. So I jumped online as per usual to find pics of the new version of Toby. I found her. I don’t know why, but this is definately Toby’s little sister. It must be because it’s orange. Being a year younger (re: newer) and orange somehow makes this bike a girl. That’s all I got really.
Other than that news I’ve really got nothing. Mailed the application to Hawaii today. That’s right, Hawaii. My post-graduate locale of choice. Mmmm Hawaii. Also tried to renew Toby’s tags, no such luck though as it must be done via mail. Drat.
Note to self; no more taquitos before naps as it produces strange dreams featuring Jen, carrion crows, and sea serpents.
