That’s pretty much how the weekend went. I read this book, which made me reflect on my own relationships. And then I read this book, which I was able to get on Sunday thanks to Borders. I don’t know how they do it, but Borders always manages to get books before the official release date.
I also went searching for a new microwave, as mine has quit, well microwaving. My microwave is or was cool. I like it a lot. I don’t want a microwave that looks like a microwave and therefore did not purchase one over the holiday weekend. The only thing I microwave anyway is popcorn. Popcorn people!
Oh, the owners of the house showed up over the weekend as well. They got a new dishwasher for me, but haven’t installed it yet. Soon I shall have a dishwasher that works all properly and stuff. So that’s good.
It rained a bit last night and I was Wal-mart (don’t lecture me, I was looking for a microwave). I ended up taking off my shoes and making a run for the car in the pouring rain as hanging out in the breezeway got lame after about 7 minutes. The rain, well wind really tossed around my patio furniture and destroyed some trees. Seriously the south just needs stronger trees.
And a shout-out to Daniel, the photoguy for calling the Chapel Hill photo place to get my frequent photo number. That was cool man.

No pain, no hurt, we’ll go dreamin’
Last night I had a dream featuring someone named Valentine who lived on the opposite end of the block from me back in Baldwin. My family was getting ready to move from the Grove Street house, but hadn’t really packed anything up. And this Valentine person is not anyone I actually know. He sort of looked like the 10, but not really.
This is the second dream I’ve had in the three weeks featuring that house and town. The first one featured a Maccer’s where the Art Gallery is and a Starbucks inside the postoffice. It also featured a dead child that I’d throttled and threw in a plastic bag. I say perhaps I should eat more hoop cheese or something.
The library director just asked if we should start a library blog. My question is, what would go on it? Do we really have enough library information to create an entire blog? What would the news of the week be? Large Stapler Still Broken: Binding Clips Available Instead.
Anyhow…back to coding. open brackets form action equals strange url method equals post name equals shut-the-fuck-up form close brackets.

Well, not die. Not really. I have again taken pride and mowed my lawn. It looks all spiffy now. However my eyebrows didn’t work very well last night and sweat keep dripping in my eyes. It kind of stun and stuff.
I’ve been volunteered for a recycling committee at the university, since I insisted that we recycle the last 5 years of Forbes and Fortune we threw out last week. We are seriously lacking in space. I ask why we can’t toss Down Beat or Civil War Times?
I’m thinking about taking off this weekend again. Now that I have four wheels and everything road trips just sound fun to me. I’m debating going to Brunswick to see the tree and staying in the Forest.

Savannah was fun. The four hour drive went by quickly thanks to this song. It’s a remake of this one, which was “my song” according to one ex-boyfriend.
We ate a lot of food. Went on a ghost tour, where interesting facts like 4 to 6% of the soil is made up from human remains. We looked at some history at Fort Pulaski. All sorts of good stuff.
One meal was at The Lady & Sons, Paula Dean’s restaurant. After a 1.5 hour wait I had a buttercake, mmm buttery. The cheese and butter biscuit wasn’t quite as buttery, but also very good. I also had pulled pork with some sort of gravy, definitely not NC, and rice. About midway through the meal the bartender burst into song (somewhere over the rainbow) and then everyone felt like we needed to applaud. At the end there was banana pudding with vanilla wafers, but should really be named sugar-heavy cream banana-flavored pudding. Damn it was sweet.
Questions, comments, explanations of pictures? Just ding me!

Last night was a DVD-glorious night. Pete & Pete arrived as did I heart Huckabees. I watched them both, starting with Pete & Pete, disc 2.
Disc 2 features New Year’s Pete, the one and only episode narrated by Little Pete. Little Viking, dealing with his brother’s hormones, Artie’s bowling skills, and inept Corporations and learning a little about life through Crossing-Guard Frank. That and Hunter S. Thompson is in it.
Everyone saw I heart Huckabees last year I assume. Well, you know me, if I don’t see it opening weekend I tend not to see it till DVD. So I just watched it. Good flick. Second to Pete & Pete though, as really there was no Polaris providing background music, or Little Pete’s song.
Oh and BenG, just because you’re phone “doesn’t work” doesn’t mean you get to cut off contact. I’ll hunt you down like I did Cleitus and I’ll cut you man. I’ll do it.
Off to Savannah this afternoon, will hopefully return with stories of intrigue.

Remember how I waited and waited and waited for my moving company? Well, I finally was able to get ahold of an actual person to see about a delay claim. As it turns out you have to have 3500lbs of shit to be able to file a delay claim. Therefore I will be getting no money. None. Nevermind that plans were made, plane tickets were purchased, and as a result of the delay a bed was purchased, and sheets, and chairs. Thanks Allied. Thanks for nothing. What have I learned? Shlep the boxes yourself and at least you’ll have them when you want them.

Ben’s car got repo-ed. Those repo guys, they’ll track you down. And take your stuff just when you really want it. I had a boyfriend whose car got repo-ed; if he only would have gotten up and taken me to breakfast he would have had that neon at least a day longer.
Saw Garden State last night, thank you Netflix. It was really good. It had a plot. I didn’t feel physical pain while watching it, like I did with Napoleon Dynamite. That’s right people I didn’t like Napoleon Dynamite. Why? Because I grew up with people like him. He probably had a weird smell as well and you could see dirt and whatnot on him. So that movie: not charming. Nope. That movie haboured strange flashbacks to high school for me. Ick ick ick.
This guy took me forever to realize where I’d seen him before. Duh. Sometimes the brain can just quit on you.
So, I’ve consolidated some loans. Good for me, right? Well the original loan company phoned yesterday a bit upset that I hadn’t consolidated through them. Tough cookies, they didn’t send me the information soon enough. The woman seemed shocked that I was getting the exact same deal from someone else.
It rained last night and now what was a small whole in my front yard is massive. It’s very sink whole like. Does anyone know what to do?

Me mudder phoned last night to go over her golf game of the day. The conversation turned to Ben. My mother calls Ben a slug. Apparently abandoning his puppy in the company of my father is not a becoming trait according to her. Something about lack of responsiblity and creditors ready to break his kneecaps puts her off. I just had to giggle. What does she expect me to do? Change him? Hell, I have a hard enough time changing the sheets on my bed.
Oh, pictures.

Pete & Pete on DVD. You know mine is already ordered.
In other news. I now own a lawn mower and the yard is all pretty.
The kitchen floor has been finished and the kitchen looks pretty good. I’m still missing a proper trashcan and a papertowel holder. I will get them, yes indeed.
I finally put together my bed. Sleeping two feet off the floor is weird.
Graduation faculty style is somehow less boring than student style.
